With this recipe, you get to have your hard-boiled eggs in a matter of 5 – 7 minutes. Also, this method is quite easy and simple.

You can easily make this for more than 3 people. With the pressure cooker method for boiling eggs, you can boil 10 eggs at a go. You have a very fast method.

Cooking Hard-Boiled Eggs with the Instant Pot 5-5-5 Method

The 5-5-5 method for cooking hard-boiled eggs is the method adopted in this recipe, and to me, I find it the best method to use.

With this 5-5-5 method, you place your egg inside a steamer basket and place it inside the pressure cooker and seal it, then add a cup of water, no matter how many eggs you have in there.

After this, let the pressure cooker run. It takes about 5 minutes for it to reach high pressure, another 5 minutes to cook the eggs, and then another 5 minutes to allow the natural pressure to release before taking out the eggs. Hence, the 5 – 5 – 5 method.

Peeling off the eggshell after cooking could be a problem for many people. But, it does not have to be that difficult. This method is just the right solution for you.

After cooking using the 5-5-5 method, peeling off the eggshell becomes a very easy thing to do. This is a fool-proof method for cooking an egg that you get to remove the yolk easily.

How to Make the Best Instant Pot Hard-Boiled Egg Pressure Cooker Recipe

  • The first step in making instant pot hard-boiled eggs is to place the eggs inside a steamer basket or the trivet/rack that comes with your instant pot.
  • Pour a cup of water into the pot and close the lid.
  • Turn the valve to ‘sealing’, and adjust the pressure cooker manual button to 5 minutes at high pressure.
  • Leave to cook for 5 minutes.
  • Allow the pressure to naturally release for another 5 minutes after the completion of the cooking cycle.
  • Allow for quick release of pressure by turning the valve to ‘venting’.
  • Remove the eggs with tongs or other utensils you can use, and place the eggs inside a bowl of cold/chilled water to stop the cooking.
  • Allow chilling for another 5 minutes before peeling.
  • Peel the boiled eggs and slice them.
  • Serve as you wish.

Can You make Eggs ahead of Time in Instant Pots?

Yes, eggs can be made ahead of time in instant pots. After preparing your egg, you can always store them (without peeling the shells) in the refrigerator.

This can stay for about one week. But, in my case, I love using them the very day they are cooked. With this, I get the best quality from my eggs.

However, you might not have much time at hand like some other people. You can make this egg over the weekend or whenever you have free time and store it in the refrigerator. So, over the course of the week, you can always use them.

How many Eggs can be Cooked in a Pressure Cooker at Once?

You can have up to 18 eggs inside the instant pot. You should boil with 1 cup of water.

Can You Freeze Hard Boiled Eggs?

No. You can’t fix hard-boiled eggs. Except, of course, you are willing to remove the yolks and freeze them separately from the egg whites.

It is believed that yolks can stay for up to 6 months if frozen.

Can Hard-Boiled Eggs Be Overcooked?

As I have mentioned earlier, the boiling point of an egg yolk is a matter of individual preferences. Some like it cooked lightly, and some like it overcooked.

No, you should not peel the eggs immediately. You should place them in cold or chilled water and allow them to stay for at least 5 minutes before peeling them.
